Greg Van Alst Returns to Charlotte Motor Speedway Searching for Another Top-Five Finish

May 23, 2024

CONCORD, N.C.: Surviving the most recent ARCA Menards Series race at Kansas Speedway with a respectable 12th-place finish, Greg Van Alst invades Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway for Friday night’s General Tire 150 is ready to get back down to business.

The last two Dover Motor Speedway and Kansas races have tested the team’s inner strength. However, Greg Van Alst’s unwavering determination and resilience behind the wheel and his all-volunteer crew’s never-give-up attitude have allowed them to navigate the challenging terrain and secure respectable finishes.

The efforts have also kept the championship points lead within their reach, a testament to grit and determination.

Armed with his No. 35 Greg Van Alst Motorsports Ford Mustang, Van Alst is headed to Concord, N.C., just outside the Queen City, looking for his third top-10 finish of the season.

“I am proud of the team,” said Van Alst. “The last two races have presented us with challenges, but our team has stepped up to the plate and delivered a top-10 and a 12th. All things considered; those are both small wins for us.

“We can go to Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend and execute. I’ve learned a lot about that track over the last two years. Last year did not go in our favor, but our track debut in 2022 went better than expected, and that is what we are looking to deliver again on Friday night.”

Reflecting on the past, in 2022, Van Alst demonstrated his prowess at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He qualified his No. 35 Ford in the top-10 and used the 100-lap race to surge through the field, securing his first career speedway top-five finish in the ARCA Menards Series.

“We had such a fast car that night,” reflected Van Alst. “That is the speed we are looking for on Friday night. Many things happened that night, but I know the intel we learned that night, and we can still apply it to our race this weekend.

“I feel like we have a good baseline setup on where we need to be. We’ll utilize the track time to our advantage to make the adjustments we need to get a good lap in qualifying and then adjust during the race as the track conditions change.

“If we can stay up with the track changes and avoid any potential chaos on the track, we can deliver another Charlotte top-five or better on Friday night. It definitely would be a good shot in the arm for us.”

This weekend, the family-owned team welcomes back CB Fabricating as the primary partner of the team’s No. 35 Ford Mustang for 100 laps of action.

Headquartered in Anderson, Ind., CB Fabricating offers a complete list of fabricating from design, laser cutting, CNC punching, forming, welding, powder coating, and assembly.

In addition to CB Fabricating, AC Direct, Zaki Ali (Injury & Criminal Trial Attorney; 1-888-649-1-ALI), Norton Transport and Top Choice Fence will serve as associate partners for Van Alst’s 44th career ARCA start.

“The ARCA season is a continued grind, and I’m super blessed to have CB Fabricating back on board as the primary partner this weekend at Charlotte, sounded Van Alst.

“Charlotte is one of the more prestigious ARCA races we run in 2024 as we are mixed in with all three of NASCAR’s top three divisions. A lot of people are at the race track, and a lot of people are watching, but it is a great opportunity to give CB Fabricating and all of our partners some great exposure!”

With 15 ARCA Menards Series races remaining in 2024, Van Alst sits second in the ARCA championship standings, six points behind leader Andrés Pérez de Lara and a 19-point buffer over third-place challenger Amber Balcaen.

Since 2002, Van Alst has 43 ARCA Menards Series starts to his credit, one win, five top-five and 21 top-10 finishes.
